Wood Advent Farm
Wood Advent Farm in Exmoor National Park provides first class bed & breakfast accommodation in beautiful surroundings. Located near the village of Roadwater, in West Somerset, the farm is idyllically situated in wonderful countryside and is the perfect place to get away from it all. Wood Advent is a working Exmoor farm which has been in the Brewer family since the 18th century. John and Diana Brewer now own and run the farm and guesthouse, welcoming visitors to their elegant comfortable country house where they can relax and enjoy the perfect holiday. In addition to providing wonderful bed and breakfast accommodation, guests can also enjoy a delicious four-course dinner in the evening if they wish. Dinner is served every evening in the farmhouse, using only the freshest local produce. Many of the ingredients used for both breakfast and dinner are from Wood Advent farm itself.
The farmhouse was built in 1804 and is a very large country house with spacious, airy rooms and a wealth of original character features. Wood Advent is ideal for couples looking for a peaceful hideaway, or larger groups looking for accommodation for a big house party. It is also an ideal base for people who enjoy walking holidays, as Exmoor National Park has many miles of footpaths and bridleways, including three long distance paths; the South West Coast Path, the Two Moors Way, and the recently opened Coleridge Way linking the Quantock Hills to Exmoor. There is a heated swimming pool and a grass tennis court in the grounds for guests' use, and plenty of space in the gardens surrounding the house, with garden chairs and tables tucked away so you can always find a peaceful corner to relax in. After a day exploring the area or walking on the hills, you can return to afternoon tea or pre dinner drinks, served in the garden on warm days. Wood Advent Farm provides an idyllic country house setting with comfortable, elegant accommodation and delicious breakfasts and evening meals.
Accommodation There are six guest bedrooms at Wood Advent, all with en suite bathrooms and lovely views out over the gardens to the surrounding fields. The rooms are large and airy, with very comfortable beds and elegant country-house style furniture. Our beds have feather and down quilts, or sheets and blankets if you prefer. We also have allergy friendly quilts and pillows should you need them.
All bedrooms have tea and coffee making facilities, television, clock radios and hairdryers, and we are always on hand to make you a fresh pot of coffee or tea, with some delicious home-made cake to go with it. Wood Advent Breakfast and Dinner Food and how it is produced is very important to us at Wood Advent Farm. We are a working farm with sheep and cattle, and much of the food we provide comes from the farm itself or from other local producers on Exmoor. At Wood Advent you will find a menu which reflects the seasons and not the market force, but we will always make sure that dietary needs are catered for, so if you have a particular preference just let us know.
Dinner Dinner is served every evening in the farmhouse, with guests choosing from the menu at breakfast time. This enables us to use only the freshest produce for your evening meal. We always try to use local produce that is in season, preparing all of the dishes in our farmhouse kitchen. We aim to cater for all tastes, so if you have a favourite dish you would like to see on the menu just mention it to us. Wood Advent Farm has a bar and a wine licence, and our own spring water. We can also provide packed lunches for walkers, although many of our walks take you to nearby local inns which are well known for their food.
