WALKERS & CYCLISTS

Set on the stunning tors between Westward Ho! and Abbotsham, Westward Holidays proudly boast a private access to a spectacular stretch of the coastal foot path. Our outstanding cliff top location is a perfect base for walkers and ramblers and cyclists of all ages and abilities. The grounds at Duckhaven Stud fall into the UNESCO Biosphere and are part of the glorious AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). All our cottages have been assessed by Visit England and have been awarded the Welcome Cyclists and Walkers accreditation. We are also close to the world famous Tarka Trail.

Over 30 miles of the Tarka Trail is available to cyclists between Braunton and Meeth, using the old railways of North Devon. Passing through the largely unspoilt countryside as it was described by Henry Williamson in his classic novel ‘Tarka the Otter’ first published in 1927 for more information visit

Westward Living self catering cottages at Duckhaven Stud are ideally situated for walks along the coastal footpath. The breathtaking walk from Westward Ho! to Hartland Point is one of the most unspoilt. Half way along the edge of the peninsular you will come across the famous fishing village of Clovelly and Bucks Mills. Turn the treacherous maritime corner of Hartland Point and you enter an even wilder walking zone. The jagged shores from here to Bude weren't known as the Wrecker's Coast for nothing - the coast has more wrecks per mile than any other in Europe.

We are not too far from both Exmoor and Dartmoor, both spectacular walking destinations.
