The Lodge Hotel, Devon

The privately run Lodge Hotel was built in the 1830s and has recently been refurbished to create a small friendly Hotel and is positioned between the coastal resorts of Salcombe and Hope Cove, which are best known for their superb accessible beaches, meandering craggy costal paths and breathtaking views.

The mild climate of the South Hams area makes it a superb destination all the year round and the hotel is ideal for everything from one night stops and special weekends to longer family holidays and is the ideal base to explore the many attractions of the area.

The hotel is open all year round, and has been refurbished to a high standard. For those looking to spoil themselves there is also a luxury suite on the second floor. One double and one twin room are located on the ground floor.

 Accommodation
All rooms are en-suite and have tv, dvd player, hair dryer, tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel also has a complementary dvd library. There is also a broadband wireless connection throughout the hotel for those guests bringing their own laptops. A garden with sun loungers is available for the sole use of residents and there is ample parking.

 Golf
The Hotel is close to the highly recommended Bigbury, Thurlestone and Dartmouth Country Club competition courses, and tailor-made tours can be organised to suit your schedule. Thurlestone Golf Club course runs right to the edge of the sea and offers spectacular views towards Hope Cove and Burgh Island. Bigbury golf course offers outstanding views of Dartmoor to the north, and the winding river Avon runs alongside a number of holes together with breathtaking scenes of Bantham beach and Burgh Island. Dartmouth Golf & Country club is set in the wonderful rolling Devon countryside and has superb clubhouse and additional leisure facilities. The pick-up and take-home land-rover can be used for dropping-off at the start of a planned golf tour.

 Walking Breaks
The Hotel is conveniently located near to the popular South West Coast Path, and the nearby section includes towering cliffs, scenic coves, unspoint fishing villages such as Hope Cove and the yachting haven of Salcombe. Burgh Island, of Agatha Christie fame, is also a short walk away.

We can assist you with planning everything from a one day walk to longer treks covering more sections of the path A wonderful 3 day walk that we recommend is first day a drop-off at Aveton Gifford walking along the River Avon to Bantham and then back to the Hotel via Hope Cove.Second day Bolt Tail to Salcombe, and third day Salcombe (via ferry) to Slapton via Gara Rock, East Prawle and the ruins of the village of Hallsands, which was swept away one stormy night....

The Lodge Hotel offers an attractive venue with attractive personal service and exclusive use of the hotel and garden.

We offer generous discounts on bulk bookings of our hotel rooms, and will be pleased to help design the menu and wine list to suit your individual requirements. The village church is only a short 100 yards walk from the hotel for wishing to get married in the church.
