The Elmfield is Ilfracombes family friendly independent hotel and restaurant. Housed in a lovely restored Victorian villa, combining contemporary style with a classic twist.

The Elmfield offers all the facilities of a luxury hotel, there is a heated indoor swimming pool, a licensed bar and games facilities, combined with the warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere of a friendly family home. The Elmfield is an exceptional place, where everyone can expect relaxation, luxury and fun. Whether you're on a walking holiday, an activity holiday or a relaxing break, The Elmfield offers luxury accomodation for your North Devon holiday.

In the main building there is a fully licensed bar, dining room, and games room with pool table, and the comfortable family lounge transforms into a cosy cinema in the evening. Nestled in the peaceful acre of The Elmfield gardens, is the pool house with heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, and mini-gym. Guests at The Elmfield have full use of the facilities, plus privileged access to many local attractions. A stay can include in-room treatments such as aromatherapy massage, an evening out whilst the children are looked after by an experienced Nanny, and a fabulous walk or day at the beach with fully packed picnic hamper. To keep the young active minds occupied, whilst parents relax, during the school holidays, activities and workshops are organised for children of all ages (advance booking maybe required) including pizza parties, music and drama workshops, and film making for older children.

The Elmfield dining room, offers a wonderful dining experience for all ages. Head chef Tom Frost sources the finest local produce that is often organic. The family dining philosophy encourages the whole family to eat together, however a grown-ups only menu after 7.30pm, and baby listener free of charge. Babysitters are also arranged for mums and dads wishing to explore the fun of Ilfracombe at night. Our aim is for everyone to enjoy their holiday.

About Us

The Elmfield is a family business, the owners Matt and Zoe Brewer have young children, and the atmosphere is definitely one of a relaxed family home. There is plenty of space for those wishing to find a quite corner to read a book, meanwhile anyone wanting a little more social interaction will always find a willing games opponent or lively conversation. Matt and Zoe, hope to provide guests with their vision of a perfect holiday, it entails fun, fresh-air, great food, enough time spent together to appreciate each other, and enough space for everyone to relax and enjoy themselves, and most essentially a good nights sleep. After a long search to find the ideal venue to provide their holiday experience, The Elmfield was purchased in December 2007.

Having all the necessary components to keep everyone happy - nice bedrooms, lounge, bar, dining room and games room, plus a great indoor swimming pool with Jacuzzi and sauna for burning off excess energy, and providing a perfect all weather activity. For families, during the school holidays, a programme of workshops and activities are planned, encouraging the entire family to 'play' together and have fun. In the evening we encourage the whole family to dine together - from our home cooked menu. Mum and Dad are also able to enjoy each others company, and sample the culinary delights of one of Ilfracombe's superb local restaurants while one of our team of excellent baby sitters keeps a watchful eye over the children (by prior arrangement).

Food is an essential part of our lives, and good food well presented and lovingly prepared are the key components of a healthy happy existence, and a very important part of a great holiday. Head Chef Tom Frost is passionate about sourcing the finest local produce. We are fortunate to have some excellent food producers right on our doorstep and working closely with them enables the kitchen to create a daily changing menu which helps to ensure that our diners can experience the very best the Devon had to offer. Families are welcome both in the hotel and the restaurant, with the whole family encouraged to dine together. Please note that there is no Evening meal offered on Sundays.

If you are at all interested in being outside, Ilfracombe covers almost every field of activity you can think of from the fabulous Torrs walks, Sea Kayaking, fishing, golfing, surfing at nearby beaches and quadbiking for those who prefer to see the countryside at high speed.
