Based in Devon The Educated Pig is about fresh, quality produce served in a friendly, professional way. Our famous Spit-roast pork cooked for no less than six hours, the resulting meat is a taste and flavour that unfortunately most people have never experienced.

A BBQ provides an ideal base for a more varied and interesting selection, why not some salads to complement your meat.

We have our own plates and glassware, cutlery and linen. We can lay up tables and run the bar. We chill the wine and do all the work to allow you to relax and enjoy your special day.

Spit-Roasts
All of our spit-roasted meats are cooked on-site
from fresh. Please do not confuse us with other 
“Hog roast“ caterers who warm pre-cooked joints of meat or cook whole pigs in an oven.

Our state of the art gas and electric rotisserie ovens can cook a whole pig in 6hrs or a whole lamb in 3hrs. Compact, tidy and portable the machines can be moved during or after cooking.

From our experience we know that the most difficult part of cooking is not only the spitting and preparation of the pig but also the cooking time and the carving technique. This is why we offer the complete package of delivery, preparation, cooking and serving that then allows you a hassle free evening.

We have cooked pigs on racetracks, in fields and in a palace. As yet we have not encountered a venue where we have not been able to use our equipment.

BBQ
As an alternative to spitroasted lamb or pork we can offer something from the BBQ.

Everything is prepared using local suppliers and the freshest of herbs and spices. The theatre of cooking is a great spectacle at an occasion and our chefs always entertain! Meats can be served at the table or from the BBQ's in a buffet style.

We can provide a range of salads and hot vegetables to complement your selection.

Speciality sausages, steak, lime and coriander chicken kebabs, fresh lobster, spicy lamb kebab...the list goes on and there is something for every budget...
