South Farm Cottages & Fishery
South Farm offers self catering holiday cottages and a Farm House in the beautiful Blackdown Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Special Offers
Nestled on gentle slopes between Honiton and Cullompton in East Devon, we offer a self contained holiday with a choice of six self catering cottages and a large farm house with its own hot tub, giving a total compliment for up to 47 people.
South Farm is an idyllic holiday destination within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty less than half an hour's drive from the coast at Sidmouth and an hour's drive to both Exmoor and Dartmoor.
The guests at South Farm will enjoy stunning views and share the wonderful facilities. A communal games barn with badminton, table tennis, toys, books and board games is ideal for children to let off steam, whilst adults indulge in a sauna and spa or use the gym, perhaps even swim in the solar heated outdoor swimming pool after a “knock about” on our tennis court. The grounds are extensive with picnic tables (BBQ’s also available) and there is children's play-area with trampoline and play tower. Close to the cottages are three well-stocked coarse fishing lakes. The surrounding fields are where deer and buzzards roam, as night falls you may even see the badger family and foxes that often pay us an evening visit.
All our self catering holiday cottages in Devon are dog friendly, they will love the long walks through the woodlands and open fields in and around

Fishing
South farm can provide a great fishing holiday in Devon. Our lakes are naturally spring fed from the adjoining hills, which ensures a fine stock of hard fighting Carp some in excess of 20 lbs, Chub in excess of 6 lbs plus specimen Roach, Tench, Silver Bream, Crucian Carp and Perch all in prime condition. We are confident that you will find the lakes and their tranquil and beautiful surroundings to your liking and that you will return again and again, like many of our regulars, to seek out some of our more elusive specimens.
Home Lake
This is our specimen lake where the larger carp hang out. Even so, it is still possible to catch up to twenty fish a day. As well as Mirrors, Leather, Koi, Ghost and Common Carp there are also specimen Chub, Perch Tench and Roach. Due to the size and quality of the fish, we do not allow keep nets on this lake.
Marlpit Lake
This slightly more remote lake is nestled within a small copse and is where the large Perch hang out who feed on the crayfish and a number of recently stocked Crucians.
Upper Ram
This is an ideal small lake for children looking to fish in a safe and comfortable environment where the fishing is not too difficult and very rewarding. A good confidence booster to ensure your children will develop the skills necessary to ensure success on more challenging waters, whilst appreciating the most magnificent surroundings and distant views.
Lower Ram
This is our largest lake and is full of hard fighting carp. You should have no problem in catching 100 lb plus of fish in a day and to encourage you match fishermen out there, we do allow keep nets on this lake.
Other things to do and see
Apart from coarse FISHING in our lakes, strolling our quiet lanes and enjoying the bird song and peace, we have our own access to adjoining Woodland Trust woods. Within walking distance there is also the Sheldon Equestrian Centre, Hollies trout fishery and by prior arrangement we can also arrange a visit to the local milking parlour only a short walk away by footpath. There is also good cycling, along the quiet country lanes.
