Lydford Country House

A family run Country House with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, within Dartmoor National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Lydford House has been welcoming guests for over 100 years and was built by the celebrated artist William Widgery (1822-1893), standing in 8 acres of delightful gardens and pastureland in the historic village of Lydford close to the Devon/Cornwall border.

Accommodation
There are nine spacious well-equipped en-suite bedrooms as well as two charming self-catering apartments: the Coach House and the Nest. The rooms include 2 singles, 4 doubles, 2 twins and a family suite consisting of a double with adjoining twin, the majority of the bathrooms have a bath with shower over, one single room is not en-suite but has its own private bathroom in the same corridor. All rooms have tea & coffee making facilities, hairdryers, colour TV, etc. with most rooms having free access to broadband wireless internet. A twin ground floor room is available and one of our superior rooms has a four-poster. All of our rooms are non-smoking.

The house is surrounded by extensive gardens and grounds where you can stroll and get to know some of our resident horses, hens, cats and goats or sit on the patio next to the ponds and relax to the sound of the waterfalls and enjoy a cream tea. There is a large private car park. On cooler evenings have a glass of wine or beer around the log fire in our elegant guest lounge and make friends with our friendly collie, Toby and red setter, Gypsy.

Rooms are available at 4pm on the day of arrival and should be vacated at 11am on the day of departure. Well-behaved pets are welcome by prior arrangement at a small extra cost with dog baskets being available on request.

Restaurant La Cascata Ristorante Italiano
You will be delightfully surprised with the wonderful dishes created by Valerio, our Italian chef. The greatest care is taken to present a mouth watering choice from traditional dishes right through to classics with a modern twist. Only the best quality and where possible, locally produced ingredients are used. The restaurant is located in three distinctive rooms, which includes the conservatory, lending itself to a very cosy and friendly atmosphere. Pre-dinner drinks are taken in the lounge around the log fire or, weather permitting, on the terrace overlooking the garden. A non smoking policy operates throughout Lydford House. Loredana Brambini, your Italian host, will ensure that you have an enjoyable experience and will be certain to return again.

At Lydford House we aim to provide a welcome for all our guests. If you have special requirements due to disabilities of any kind please call us in advance so we can discuss your needs.

HORSES STAY FREE!
Situated in the grounds, the Stables offer a holiday for you and your horse. We have 13 good size boxes, a sand school and tack room. There is ample parking for lorries and trailers. Your horse comes at no extra cost, apart from any feed or hay you may required. The moors at the top of the lane provide superb hacking with spectacular views from the nearby tors, alternatively there is excellent riding in the nearby Lydford forest and along the many hidden bridal ways that traverse the area. There are a number of local inns which can be passed providing a much needed watering hole for both man and beast alike!! But if you are wanting to grab a bite to eat in the saddle, packed lunches are provided on request.

Venue
Lydford is the perfect location for peninsula conferences, there is easy access from all corners of the county of Devon and only a short distance to the Cornish boarder. We are 400 meters from the A386 running down to Tavistock/Plymouth in one direction and Bideford/Barnstaple in the other.With the A30 4 miles from our door, there is easy access to Exeter and the M5 in an easterly direction and west to Launceston and Bodmin. 

Our main meeting room can accommodate up to 35 delegates and there is a number of smaller breakout rooms if required. Coffee and lunches are served in the conservatory or gardens.

Out & About
There is much to see and do in the immediate vicinity as well as further afield in the beautiful counties of Devon and Cornwall.
